Loire, chateaux & more

Just a few ideas for some Day Tours

Please go to "The Loire Valley" page for information about the different places.

These are ideas. We can create YOUR tour according to your wishes.

A first step: Loire Chateau Architecture

Discover two of the famous Chateaux to get an idea about history and different architectural styles: Langeais and Azay-le-Rideau.

The day will be completed by a drive along the embankments of the Loire River. And why not a tasting of wines or the famous “Poire Tapée”, a local speciality?

The Saumur Area

Guided visits of Saumur and the Abbey of Fontevraud, a stroll through one of the nicest villages of France, Candes-Saint-Martin, and the discovery of the cave dwellings between Montsoreau and Saumur. You can finish your tour with a tasting of wines or the famous “Pomme Tapée”, a local speciality.

The Anjou Area

Along this great Loire River we will bring you to the city of Angers. Enjoy the medieval quarters with the cathedral and the 19th century architecture as well as Art Nouveau. And of course, there is a chateau: the fortress of Angers is the biggest in France. It houses the famous Apocalypse tapestry what was manufactured at the end of the 14th century for the Duke of Anjou. After admiring this work of art chill out with a nice drink people watching.

The day can continue with a stroll around a village build on a Loire island or the visit of another chateau like Le Plessis Bourré.

The Touraine Area 1

Visit the famous Chateau of Chenonceau with it's park, for lunch you will be in the city of Tours, where your guide will explain you its history, starting at the Roman time, and buildings of different periods. The cathedral is a showpiece of Gothic architecture.

Enjoy a drink in the picturesque and animated Plumereau square, surrounded by half timbered houses.

At the end of your tour, you can relax in the beautiful gardens of Villandry.

The Touraine Area 2

Discover the fantastic gardens of Villandry: originally from the 16th century, they have been transformed in the 19th century into an English style landscape park before being reinvented by the new owner, a Spanish scientist.

We also recommend visiting the chateau: outside Renaissance, inside 18th century. Plenty of surprises awaiting you!

After a drive through the lovely Indre Valley let's stop at the chateau of Candé where, in 1937, the Duke of Windsor married the American Wallis Simpson. Feel the ambiance of the 1930s !

The Touraine Area 3

We bring you to the lovely town of Amboise. Here you can explore the first of all chateaux what was transformed into a Renaissance chateau! Today you can visit the Renaissance apartments as well as the 19th century rooms with their typical furniture.

In the little chapel Sankt Hubert you can have a thought for Leonardo da Vinci whose remains were transferred after the chateau's church was demolished in the early 19th century. At 500 m, if you wish, continue to discover Leonardo's last years at the Clos Lucé, the manor house where he lived and worked for the French king.

Or perhaps you prefer to see the famous chateau of the ladies in Chenonceaux ?
